Spruce up your Entryway

I have a 'go-to' for my front porch planters...red geraniums and ivy with a few impatients thrown in. The beauty of geraniums is that they can go full sun or shade. The pop of red never disappoints or disappears and they don't need a ton of water...which can be a pain with planters because they dry out so quickly. Don't forget to work with the scale of your home. For example, if you have a super tall front door or porch ceiling, don't place a stubby short planter out there. Most importantly, do what makes you smile and happy every time you come home! Here are a few inspirations for what may work for your planters.

Wine in Decor?

I knew that would attract your attention! Wine spheres or demijohns are old wine or spirit jugs that have been around forever in decor. Mostly used in groupings for their pale green or blue/green color atop a shelf or bookcase, these glass pieces are now moving from vases to lamps and now pendants. The pendants are becoming super popular and super expensive. Personally, I love a single glass piece with a palm frond or other large branch displayed. I also pulled together a few items in the end that are a bit more affordable than some of the vintage pieces you may find out there.

New Home Resource: Domaine

Have you checked out Domaine yet? LOVE this new site. Founders of WhoWhatWear pulled this Decor and inspiration site together. Yes, I read all about Kristen Bell's nursery and baby must haves, poured over actual interiors and found sources for featured pieces, rummaged through some "how to's" for around the house...well, you get the picture. Adding this site to my favorites!

Porch Time!

The pollen is gone! Here in Charleston, days of rain have obliterated all remaining traces of pollen. That means, time to hose and wipe off porches and embrace outdoor living. At least, until it gets too unbearably hot:-) Here are a few porches to inspire!

Remember, you don't just have to spruce up a side or back porch. I love what they did with painted striped floors, curtains, herbs and a vintage crate planter.
